Sanity

Published by Sankara Narayanan in category Paranormal Experience with tag blood | haunted house | suspense

I shouldn’t have seen that. It’s the biggest mistake I’ve done but I couldn’t help it. In fact no one could. What would you do when you hear a female scream so loud that it could pierce your ears? I can still hear the scream in my ears. The moment I ran towards the sound, the first sight I saw was that of a dead girl. She must have been at least eighteen, her blood splattered all over the narrow road and oozing through her mouth. Her eyes were still wide open. Poor girl was run over by a truck. The very moment I saw the scene, it sent chills through my spine. People over there stood petrified in horror by the gore they had just witnessed.

I couldn’t stand there for another second. I came back home as soon as I can. It’s 10 PM. I’m still feeling nauseous and my heart’s beating so fast like I’ve run a mile or two. But there’s something strange going around and I can feel it. I feel like I am being watched. Adding to the horror, I could hear something from the bathroom. What could possibly go more wrong for a person who lives alone? I start watching a movie just to get distracted from the things happening around me but there’s no escaping I guess. I could feel someone breathing on me, I quickly turn back to see what’s behind me. Luckily there was nothing but the relief didn’t last long as I could see  an obscure image of something between the curtains. As I get closer, I could see a pale white face with a devilish grin that made my soul stumble. Its teeth are so sharp that I feel like it was going to gorge into my flesh.

It was enough to make me flee towards the door for my life but to my dismay it won’t open. All of a sudden the already dim lights go off, taking away the last grain of hope that remained. I can feel the chill of the tear drop in my cheek dripping through my eye. I feel helpless and start to cry for help only to see a grotesque figure move slowly towards me.

That was intense, good enough to keep me engaged for another night. This might make you think of me as an insane person but insanity is my escape route. Insanity is what keeps me sane. Maybe I didn’t see a girl dying, maybe this is just another sleepless night in my dreary life.
