Chapter Nine

Case # ___________________

The police chief took my case to the District Attorney. He declined to issue any warrants because the ‘threats’ weren’t specific enough. I gave them my home address and my husband’s telephone number and told them he was my “who to notify” person when she finally snaps and follows through on one of her many threats. I had my attorney send a Cease and Desist letter which they framed and made fun of on Facebook. I was told the next step is file a civil case starting fees of $3000.00. THREE THOUSAND DOLLARS?! You can’t be serious.

I don’t qualify for a restraining order because we are not a domestic couple. So a civil suit is all I can do. My lawyer said I will no doubt win but the costs could reach into the tens of thousands. All to claim a moral victory? Perhaps if I had money to burn.

The officer taking the report, the chief of police and DA all agree readily that she is referencing me in her threats. They say that her threats just aren’t enough and don’t justify an actual arrest. I feel like this is a never ending battle and that she will actually have to attempt physical harm for anything to be done. If you wonder why I reference ‘her’ so much, it’s because he, the ex, doesn’t get involved much in her onslaught of evil. He went to jail for a domestic situation at her home and so I guess he is trying to keep his proverbial nose clean. His whole ordeal was widely reported on the local stations and can still be found on line. I could paste and plaster his business everywhere but that would sink me to their level of depravity and that is a level I am not comfortable being at.

And so I am left to COPY, COPY, COPY… everything she posts about me or my work or my family. It’s almost like stalking except I do it for evidence. The police told me if the laws ever catch up to cyber villains I will need every last shred of evidence.  As of February 2014, I have well over two thousand pages of vicious postings, awful pictures directed at me, vile comments and veiled threats. I sought out some news shows to try and get the word out. I was offered a spot on Steve Wilkos but flying is not my forte. So each day I check her ramblings to see if we done yet? And each day I sit with my mouth open just mystified at how much hate a person can have for someone they never even met.

Chapter 10

Illusions

Never get so complacent in your life that you let yourself be tricked into believing you are safe from a narcissist stalker. They may pretend to go away or even try to make amends to you but it is all lies. Every last thing that they say will be a lie.

They practice telling lies and tell them so well that they believe them too. Skilled in lying and charismatic they will do everything in their power to ‘show’ you just how lucky you are to be in their presence. Throw every preconceived notion you have out the window. A narcissist is a chameleon and can and will change every spot, stripe or lie they have to drag you back into their web.

Learning that lesson has been hard and sometimes I am not sure of my own ability to recognize their pathetic attempts at hurting me. I do my level best to remain silent and let them post their vile comments and pictures knowing that I am the better person for letting it go, but everyone has their limit. I remind myself that my loving husband is there for me no matter what and I have friends and family looking out for me too. And on a greater scale the entire police force of my little town knows about this situation and is ready to come to my aid if needed. Don’t get me wrong, I still get upset about them calling me a whore or claiming I am cheating on my husband now or even that my husband is imaginary… but I have to remember I am an adult and they are children in grown up bodies desperately seeking the attention that they are not getting from each other. I hope that someday their creepy fascination with me will come to an end, but until then I just live my life knowing I am loved.
