Poem – Waking up on Christmas Day

I have just woken up suddenly in the middle of a Christmas themed dream

Which I have quickly forgotten about, like with all dreams I have

Still feeling quite tired myself after struggling to fall asleep last night

After having spent a good few hours last night in my living room

Wrapping up all my familys Christmas presents t0 go under our Christmas tree

All each of the presents carefully wrapped up and placed under the Christmas tree

Wrapped up in the lovely sparkly pink and silver wrapping paper

After having bought the sparkly Christmas wrapping paper and little gift tags

Yesterday on Christmas Eve early afternoon after having faced the long shopping queues

From  having dropped off one of my younger siblings Patricia

And after having driven back home waiting in a slow moving long traffic queue

Whilst getting more frustrated waiting in the traffic queue with every passing minute

I have gotten up at a fairly earlier time than usual at around six o clock in the morning

Whilst downstairs below my bedroom floor I can distinctly hear my younger siblings

Called Lucy and Patricia, who are now almost seven and nine years old

Rushing around in our living room unwrapping all their presents from under the Christmas tree

Both at times screaming and laughing filled with excitement

With my own mum reminding them both at times to calm down and stop screaming

I quickly get out of my own bed and go to the bathroom on the left hand side of my own bedroom

To get quickly washed and changed into my red sparkly Christmas themed jumper and long black trousers

After I carefully climb down our slightly steep stairs and head downstairs straight into the living room

And walk over to underneath our Christmas tree and quickly unwrap my own Christmas presents

Greatly thanking both of my parents for my Christmas presents
