IT ALL STARTED WHEN I WAS THREE – Poem on School Days

It all started when I was three
They put me in School
A place I wasn’t free
Early morning my mummy got me ready
With an ironed uniform and a hoping-jumping pony
She told me I was looking smart but for me it was all funny
Papa and mummy both came to leave me to school
I was afraid to go in there
I thought I won’t be safe in that unknown pool
I cried, I shouted, I screamed and loathed
they tried to calm me down
But I ran out of those giant gates with a frown
My papa came running to me
held my hand to ensure I don’t leave
he said, “Don’t worry I’ll be there”
gave me a candy and flew away my fears
A lady came and she was the teacher
took me to a room full fo kids like me
This was the nursery class where I was to study
My first lessons of life I learned in that kinder garden
A B C D till X Y Z and 1 2 3 4 which had no end
I learned to respect and never to bicker
I learned to be veracious and have cordial relationships with others
I learned to walk in a line with finger on lips
Never to pluck flowers and behave nicely with kin
Then gradually from one class to another
kinder garden to middle school and further
came the high school and the last year of it all
After which those giant gates will open up to let me achieve my own goals
Today when I stand at the 12th step of the ladder
I realize how good it was to learn all those lessons
The fear of tht dreadful stick
and the happiness of reciting the poem with full confidence
Fighting for a single mark
and writing with my favorite red pencil
The tough times of exams that stole our peace
But at the same time taught us to manage the pressure without any fees
Small-small children have now grown up with big-big dreams
Dreams to fullfill and reach till zentih with the knowledge we recieved
I wish I could go back
till the time
whe it all started when I was three………..
