A Poem – Flashing the Wings I’ll Fly High

As a child I used to hear,

There are wings inside you my dear,

And innocently I‘d struggle to find,

No wings just my little hands to bind.

But I now realize…

That as a child I had the biggest wings inside.

I used to see the birds and wonder,

God has committed a huge blunder,

‘He blessed little birds with wings,

And how’d He forget me?’ Silly thinks.

As granules of time slipped,

More the urge of wings I missed,

With growing burdens of life,

I started to realize.

Life got jumble,

Problems don’t seem to crumble,

I began to grumble,

Why God didn’t give me wings for surviving in this jungle?

Everyone toiling hard to survive,

Even before in the world they arrive.

As the time passed by,

My imagination began to die.

My ambition was to fly,

Now I manage just to pass by,

My Dreams began to tumble,

My heart started to rumble.

Going through the past,

I began to ask,

Was I supposed to cast,

For what I am turned into, so fast?

My search for wings have gone,

What I am most bothered, is to move on.

For miracles do happen, as one happened to me,

On a way An Angel, found me,

She placed me in a dream,

That moment, I was about to scream,

I saw…what I‘d be,

If I’d found my wings to flee,

The Life I ever imagined,

Where the roads were of Diamond and Satin.

But As the dream unfold,

I saw Horror and Cold,

Met a mirror who said, “You are old”,

All the way I was searching for Gold,

Forgotten the little tender hands to hold.

Struck by the truth like a lightning bolt,

Crying on my apathy like a 2 year old.

Wake up! Cried the voice cold…

Finding hard to open my eyes,

Shivering, I got up in fright.

Took a deep sigh and thanked Lord,

It was just a dream, nothing real of the sort.

Down came a voice,

That was no dream….but A Blessing,

Sooner you understand….came The Warning.

Shaken, I was a changed man,

Wise and hopeful, I knew I Can.

Now the rules I make, I’ll live by

Not for a moment I’ll feel shy

Flashing the Wings I’ll fly high,

Face the Life as it comes by…

Flashing the Wings I’ll fly high,

Face the Life as it comes by…
