English Poems – A chaste bud and others

1- Mask

The gentry of the town

going gaga about a woman’s virtues

Mother,sister,wife

each form gets a heartening applause

The state at home ,though

is sadly entirely different

Refusing to kill her unborn girl

the future mother faces torment

A daughter in law ,although she is

a mother she yearns to be

at this crossroad of life

hopelessly stranded she feels

A safe birth for her girl

she still pleads for

such an unjust end for the pristine

she can’t fathom ever
The rising flames of her pyre

will keep asking of everyone

two lives ,brutally snuffed out

what wrong had she done?

2- A chaste Bud

I am a chaste pure bud

Lost in the filth of this world

Meant to be a bright possibility anew

But now tossed into the bins of a dark past

Who am I?

Am a chaste innocent bud.

Carried with me ,a sanguine promise

Of a fresh poem with new lyrics

Yet reduced to a mere bunch of cryptic words

Am a chaste innocent bud.

Was a serene rivulet rippling away

On course to enrich the sea,one day

An inanimate heap of sand, now, buried in my own fate

Who am I?

Am a chaste …..

Came along in a glow of sunlit skies

To brighten the world, to sweeten few lives

Obscured by these desolate paths

Lost I am ,cant find my own way.

3- Déjà vu

My time had drawn to a close on this graveyard, when I had last descended

Overcome with Déjà vu ,I am now although this birth has been denied , brutally ended

A cauldron of gloom it was, then filled with a lot of wailing sounds

Airless as hell, it is today as well yet ,with not a single tear around

My final journey ,that last time had been on a few distraught shoulders

Remorseless hands and a plastic bag,now am being carried by my murderers

All the rituals followed, all the prayers sung yet the sobbing had carried on

A hurried burial is all I got now to keep themselves hidden was their only concern
A mother ,a sister ,a wife had been a worthy life, lived to the fullest

Savagely killed in my mother’s womb know not ,what this birth might have offered

4- I Plead

Calling from inside you I could only reach as far as your deaf ears

you,a mother, turned to stone who else would comfort me ,come hither.

Scores of dreams in my expectant eyes all to fill your lap with joy

Can’t wait a moment more to see the world mother, let me go out and play

Divine,it would be,oh mother to walk with you ,hand in hand

Oh how glad, you shall be to see me realize your dreams as if with a magic wand

From a dainty bud to my brightest bloom I shall grow one day

but how cruel you are mother to plan to have me brushed away

How unjust it is of you to contemplate leaving me in mortal pain

Hassled you are of the thought your womb nurtures a fellow woman

Burdensome I will be was all your mind could conjure

So gutted you were to imagine my premature marital pyre

Call you mother ,see the world was it so much to ask for

you take all the blame God knows it, rest assure

His court will question you yes , that day will come

what will your reply be mother for the sin that you have done

A girl child I was made your womb my home

Motherhood,I gave you a mother, you could never become

I am a chaste pure bud

Lost in the filth of this world….
